Another Batch of Laboratory Instruments Is on the Way to Ethiopia: Solving Pure Water Preparation and Turbidity Testing Challenges
Another batch of laboratory instruments is on the way to Ethiopia. This shipment includes a DZ5C stainless steel water distiller and a TU200 benchtop turbidity meter.
These two instruments are used for different tasks, but both are closely related to daily laboratory work. The water distiller is designed to prepare distilled water, while the turbidity meter is used to check the clarity of water samples.
For laboratories, water quality and testing accuracy are often part of routine work. Having suitable equipment can make these tasks easier and help laboratory staff maintain a more consistent working process.
DZ5C Water Distiller for Daily Laboratory Water Preparation
The DZ5C water distiller is designed to produce distilled water from tap water through electric heating. It can be used in laboratories, pharmaceutical departments and other working environments where distilled water is required.
One of the main features of this model is its stainless steel construction. The material is suitable for regular laboratory use and makes the equipment easy to clean and maintain.
The DZ5C uses a coil-type condenser. This design helps improve the cooling effect and supports a water production capacity of at least 5 liters per hour.
Another practical feature is the cooling-water circulation design. Part of the cooling water can return to the evaporation chamber, helping reduce unnecessary water consumption during operation.
The distiller also includes a drain valve for removing concentrated water from the evaporation chamber. Regular drainage can help reduce scale accumulation inside the equipment.
For daily operation, the DZ5C has an automatic heating cut-off function when the water supply is insufficient. After water is added, the heating process can continue. This provides additional protection during use.
TU200 Turbidity Meter for Water Sample Testing
The second instrument in this shipment is the TU200 benchtop turbidity meter.
Turbidity testing is commonly used when laboratories need to check the clarity of water samples. Suspended particles in water can affect the appearance of a sample, so measuring turbidity provides more useful information than relying only on visual observation.
The TU200 uses a 90-degree scattering method and follows the ISO 7027 turbidity measurement method. Its stable light source helps support repeatable testing results.
The meter can display turbidity in several units, including NTU, FNU and EBC. This gives users flexibility when working with different testing requirements.
The TU200 supports one-point to five-point calibration. Users can select Formazin standard solutions or zero water according to their calibration process.
The instrument also provides an automatic measuring range from 0 to 200 NTU. The measurement ranges are:
0–20.00 NTU
20.0–200.0 NTU
Other specifications include repeatability of ≤1.0% and fluctuation of ≤±1.0% FS over 30 minutes. The accuracy is ≤±8%.
The TU200 is a benchtop instrument, so it can be placed on a laboratory workbench for routine sample testing. Users can also set information such as user ID, calibration points, date and time through the instrument settings.
Supporting Different Parts of Laboratory Work
The DZ5C and TU200 serve different purposes.
The DZ5C focuses on preparing distilled water for laboratory use. Its stainless steel body, cooling-water circulation and automatic protection functions are designed for regular operation.
The TU200 focuses on turbidity measurement. Its multiple calibration options, different measurement units and automatic range selection make it suitable for routine water sample testing.
When used in the same laboratory, these instruments can support different stages of daily work. One is used for water preparation, while the other is used for water quality measurement.
Choosing the Right Laboratory Equipment
When selecting laboratory instruments, the equipment should match the actual working requirements.
For a water distiller, users should pay attention to:
Required water production capacity
Power supply available at the installation site
Construction material
Cooling-water consumption
Scale removal and drainage design
Heating protection functions
For a turbidity meter, important points include:
Measurement range
Testing method
Calibration options
Measurement units
Accuracy and repeatability
Bench space and operating conditions
The right choice depends on the sample type, daily workload and laboratory environment.
