Leaf thickness tester is a professional instrument used to determine the thickness of leaf blade.

Leaf blade is the most important organ of plant, and its morphological changes can reflect the changes of plant growth status, such as photosynthesis, water condition, nutrient condition and so on. Research has shown that the leaf thickness change has cycle regularity, which can be divided into long cycle and short cycle (24 hours). Knowledge of these patterns is important for the study of plant water status.

The usual irrigation system uses the temperature and humidity of the air as well as the humidity of the soil as the control parameters, which belongs to the open-loop control. To address this problem, an intelligent water-saving irrigation control system is proposed that uses the geometrical parameters of the plant's organs (leaves, stems, and fruits) as the control parameters, which is a closed-loop control.
